The Newsom gloves came off today as the mayor scorched Board of Supervisors Aaron Peskin.
Peskin, Mayor Newsom alleged, threatened to have Newsom senior staffer Wade Crowfoot fired (Crowfoot once worked as legislative aide to Peskin).
Crowfoot confirmed to the Sentinel “yes” Peskin had threatened to have him fired, repeatedly declining to say more about the incident.
And Nathan Ballard, the mayor’s press secretary, confirmed that Crowfoot two weeks ago filed a request with the City Attorney’s Office to determine illegality of the alleged threat.
Today all tongues in the chattering class clacked that Phil Ginsburg, chief-of-staff for the Newsom administration, was about to be replaced by Crowfoot himself.
Ballard responds: “Phil Ginsburg remains Chief of Staff.”
And Wade Crowfoot’s current or new position: “Same.”
With “same” response for Heather Fong, too.
