Visitors were able to get a close look at the new studio apartments being offered at 149 Mason Street for the formerly homeless. The model apartments on the second floor were opened for touring after the ribbon cutting and ceremonies in the first floor community room.

As you enter the apartment the bathroom is on the left and the kitchen on the right. Then there is a small (two or three person) dining table before the room opens out into the bedroom. A large window provides light and views.

The entire building was designed to be uplifting so it was intentionally built with the idea to include much light as possible. Each floor has access to balconies from the elevator lobby. There is access to a courtyard with outdoor seating from the second floor.

But it is all just an empty shell or a nice plan without the people to occupy it. After my tour(s) I had the opportunity to visit with one of the new residents in his new home. His words made me realize that we are not just impacting the lives of the 56 people that will live in this building this year, but also the people that will be living in this building 50 years from now.
