A little bit of Hollywood glitter will descend upon Sacramento tonight as thirteen new inductees to the California Hall of Fame walk the red carpet to ceremonies.
The thirteen inductees include Carol Burnett, Andrew S. Grove, Rafer Johnnson, George Lucas, John Madden, Danielle Steel, Joe Weider, Chuck Yeager, Hiram Johnson, Henry Kaiser, Joan Kroc, Fritz Scholder and Harvey Milk.
On display in the exhibit to honor this year’s 13 inductees are items that tell their stories. Ranging from the large- a 1953 Kaiser Deluxe Traveler car, to the small – an original micro dot from 1968- each inductee contributions to California society and history are documented.
I admit that I find it fascinating to view historical items and there is a great variety of items in this exhibit. The Olympic torch used by Rafer Johnson to light the 1984 Summer Olympics flame, the 1977 Super Bowl trophy, the Presidential Medal of Freedom awarded to Chuck Yeager and ther one recently awarded to Harvey Milk.
Preceeding the red carpet event, First Lady Maria Shriver will award the two winners of the Dreamers Challenge, Radhika Mitra of Fremont, and Paul Tran of San Diego, $5,000 scholarships from Comcast.
