The 31st anniversary of the assassination of Harvey Milk and George Moscone was a smaller event than last year’s event on the heels of the movie MILK, but it was as moving and inspiring as ever. With words from people who knew and worked with Harvey Milk.

Stuart Milk, Harvey’s gay nephew, put some international perspective on what happens here in San Francisco when he noted that people all over the world look to San Francisco. We are still the beacon that shines world wide.

The march took a slightly different route this year. It went down Market to Church, right on Church to 18th , left from 18th to Castro and ended at the site of Harvey Camera Shop.

However the annual Milk Club rallies and march where not the only tribute to the deaths of Mayor Moscone and Supervisor Harvey Milk. At St Francis Lutheran Church an interfaith service ended with a procession to the intersection of 18^th and Castro, where icons of Harvey Milk and George Moscone were displayed.

Reverend Tommy Dillon, St. Aidan’s Episcopal Church holds the icon of Harvey Milk as Reverend Dawn Roginski holds the icon of George Moscone.
