FAMILY (Castro Theatre, 11:00 am) – Finding closeted life harrowing, six African American lesbians forge a pact to come out within 30 days. As familial and professional relationships change, the women come to depend on the family they chose instead of the family they chose instead of the family they were given.

FAMILY

FRUIT FLY (Castro Theatre, 1:15 pm) – Take a trip around the globe with this program of superb international men’s shorts. Anonymous bathroom sex, teenage malaise and the benefits of your gayness to your mom are just part of this program.

THE BABY FORMULA – (Castro Theatre, 6:00 pm) – In a Canadian mockumentary with a kick (pun intended), Athena and Lilith rock lovely lady lumps as they dare to boldly go where no couple has gone before — simultaneously bearing children with two biological mothers. (No sperm!)

BORN IN ‘68

BORN IN ’68 – (Castro Theatre, 8:30 pm) – This rollicking emotional and political history of middle-class French life begins in 1968 with an idealistic ménage-à-trois forming a commune, and ends with some hard-earned truths about love and activism.

Straightlaced: How Gender’s Got Us All Tied Up (Roxie Theater, 6:00 pm) – The latest peer-to-peer, consciousness-raising doc from local pioneer Debra Chasnoff (It’s Elementary, That’s a Family) and The Respect For All Project charmingly and disarmingly tackles teen attitudes toward gender roles with humor, color, compassion and pop.

CANYON CINEMA’S QUEER UNDERGROUND (Roxie Theater, 8:15 pm) – A survey of legendary and lesser-known works of underground LGBT filmmakers from the Canyon Cinema cooperative curated by Dominic Angerame.

A DRAG KING EXTRAVAGANZA

A DRAG KING EXTRAVAGANZA (Roxie Theater, 10:30 pm) – Go inside the history, art and politics of the International Drag King Community Extravaganza (IDKE). With the help of performers, attendees, fans we experience the ten-year history of IDKE.

SOUNDLESS WIND CHIME (Victoria Theater, 7:00 pm) – Two lonely young men, one Chinese and one Swiss, meet in bustling Hong Kong in Kit Hung’s beautifully photographed debut feature. The film finds its true magic in love’s wake, when memory is as palpable as a steady breeze.

CHAMPION (Victoria Theater, 7:00 pm) – This hardcore, queer porn tells the story of Jessie: a tattooed lesbian fighter who meets her match in and out of the ring. Even the toughest fighter can change with a worthy opponent…especially when that opponent sits on your face. This film contains sexually explicit material.
