PELOSI EASILY WINS RE-ELECTION - EASILY BEATING SHEEHAN

5 November 2008

Congresswoman Nancy Pelosi easily won re-election to the House of Representatives Tuesday despite a challenge from renowned anti-war activist Cindy Sheehan.

With all precincts reporting, preliminary election results showed House Speaker Pelosi with 72 percent of the vote. Sheehan, who appeared on the ballot as an independent, garnered 17 percent support.

Republican Dana Walsh received 9 percent of the vote and Libertarian Philip Berg received 2 percent.

Sheehan gained fame as an outraged mother after her son Casey was killed in the Iraq war in 2004. She became an outspoken critic of the war and garnered national media attention when she led a protest outside President George W. Bush’s Texas ranch in 2005.
