In case the Olympic fever has gotten you in a frenzy and the living room couch just isn’t the right place to show your Olympic spirit, the Civic Center Plaza will be alive with activity Saturday August 11 from 9 am to 4 pm. The Olympics will be shown live on a jumbotron like the World Cup was. The Recreation and Parks Department will be providing activities for the kids.
During the Tuesday August 7 viewing party, Kenny Harrison winner Triple Jump gold medal at the 1996 Atlanta Games was on hand to greet kids and parents. He signed every thing handed him. He was hoping that his Olympic record triple jump of 18.09 m 59 Ft. 4 inches would not be broken at the London Games. (SPOILER ALERT: It wasn’t.)
