San Francisco Folsom Street Fair Weekend traffic and transit impacts

The San Francisco Municipal Transportation Agency (SFMTA) advises San Francisco residents and visitors of the following event-related traffic and service impacts this weekend, Saturday, Sept. 24 through Sunday, Sept. 25. Event participants and fun seekers should check with sfmta.com or call 311 to find out which of the 80 Muni lines will get them where they want to go.

Polk Street Blues Festival

On Saturday and Sunday the 2nd annual Polk Street Blues Festival will be held on Polk Street from 10 a.m. to 6 p.m.

Polk Street between Jackson and Pine streets will be closed from 12 a.m., Saturday until midnight, Sunday.

All intersections will be open to cross traffic.

The 19 Polk and Muni route will be affected.

Walk to End Alzheimer’s

On Saturday the three-mile Walk to End Alzheimer’s will take place in Mission Creek Park. Check-in starts at 8 a.m. and the walk begins at 10 a.m.

The following street closures will be required:

From 5 a.m. to 3 p.m.:

•Channel Street between 3rd and 5th streets

From 7 a.m. to 1 p.m.:

•Parking lane and one traffic lane on northbound Embarcadero between Townsend and Folsom streets

Local access will be allowed during the street closure.

No Muni lines or routes will be affected.

St. Anthony’s Foundation 60th Anniversary

On Saturday St. Anthony Foundation will celebrate its 60th anniversary on Golden Gate Avenue. The celebration begins at 10 a.m. with a rally in Civic Center Plaza. Participants will start marching from Civic Center Plaza at 10:40 a.m. to Golden Gate Avenue where lunch will be served from 11 a.m. to 2 p.m.

The following street closures will be required:

From 5 a.m. to 7 p.m.:

•Golden Gate Avenue between Hyde and Jones streets
•Jones Street between Golden Gate Avenue and McAllister Street

From 10 a.m. to 2:30 p.m.

•Leavenworth Street between McAllister and Turk streets
•Intersection: Leavenworth Street at Golden Gate Avenue

The 19 Polk Muni route will be affected.

350.Org Moving Planet March

On Saturday the 350.Org will hold a march beginning at Justin Herman Plaza.

At noon, demonstrators will gather at Justin Herman Plaza. The group will start marching to Civic Center for a rally at 12:30 p.m. along the following route: west on Market Street, west on Grove and into Civic Center Plaza.

SFPD officers will monitor.

There will be no street closures and no Muni bus services will be affected.

San Francisco Book Center Roadworks Event

On Saturday the San Francisco Book Center’s annual Roadworks Street Fair will take place from noon to 5 p.m. on Rhode Island Street.

Rhode Island Street between 16th and 17th streets will be closed between 9 a.m. and 6 p.m.

The 10 Townsend and 19 Polk Muni route will be affected.

Leland Avenue Street Fair

On Sunday the Leland Avenue Street Fair will be held from 10 a.m. to 4 p.m.

The following street closures will be required from 6 a.m. to 7 p.m.:

•Leland Avenue between Bayshore Boulevard and Peabody Street
•Desmond Street between Leland and Visitacion avenues

The 56 Rutland Muni route will be affected.

Cole Valley Fair

On Sunday the Cole Valley Fair will be held from 10 a.m. to 5 p.m. on Cole Street.

The following street closures will be required from 6 a.m. to 8 p.m.:

•Cole Street between Grattan and Carl streets
•Parnassus Avenue between Belvedere and Shrader streets

The following Muni lines and routes will be affected:

•N Judah
•6 Parnassus
•37 Corbett
•43 O’Shaughnessy

Susan G. Komen Race for the Cure

On Sunday the Susan G. Komen Race for the Cure will take place along The Embarcadero beginning at 9 a.m. The race map is attached.

The following street closures will be required:

From 7:30 to 10:30 a.m.:

•Two easterly traffic lanes on 3rd Street between King Street and Terry A. Francois Boulevard
•Terry A. Francois Boulevard between 3rd and Mission Rock streets
•Easterly traffic and bike lanes on eastbound King Street between 2nd and 3rd streets

From 8:40 to 9:40 a.m.:

•Northbound Embarcadero between Washington and King streets

From 9:40 to 11 a.m.:

· Easterly traffic, parking and bike lanes on northbound Embarcadero between Washington and King streets

Local access to Piers 48 and 50 will be allowed during the street closure.

Although one lane on northbound Embarcadero traffic will open after 9:40 a.m., motorists in the area are encouraged to continue detouring until the end of the race due to traffic congestion.

No Muni lines or routes will be affected.

Folsom Street Fair

On Sunday the Folsom Street Fair will be held from 11 a.m. to 6 p.m.

The following street closures will be required:

From 3 a.m. to 10 p.m.:

· Folsom Street between 7th and 12th streets

· 8th Street between Howard and Harrison streets

· 9th Street between Howard and Harrison streets

· 10th Street between Howard and Harrison streets

· All alleys and intersections bounded by 7th, Howard, 12th and Harrison streets

The following Muni routes will be affected:

· 9 San Bruno

· 12 Folsom-Pacific

· 19 Polk

· 47 Van Ness

Opera at the Ballpark

On Sunday San Francisco Opera’s performance of Turandot will be video simulcast at AT&T Park. The show will begin at 2 p.m.

Heavy traffic is expected both before and after the show. Participants and those traveling in the area are encouraged to take public transit and allow extra travel time.

On Sunday Muni customers may purchase their fare in advance. There will be sale of Muni fares at the following locations and during the time specified:

•Embarcadero Metro Station 10:30 a.m. to 2 p.m.
•AT&T Park 3 p.m. to approximately 5:30 p.m.
