From August 13th through the 31st, NEW CONSERVATORY THEATRE CENTER presents the west coast premier of 2 Boys TV. This internationally acclaimed duo brings to San Francisco their unique repertoire of epic multimedia performance, which aims to dazzle and provoke with political and poetic vigor. The current presentation, ZONA, designed for The New Conservatory Theatre Center, combines disparate elements of Alfred Hitchcock, Tennessee Williams, Bette Davis and Katharine Hepburn that follows an “actress” as she struggles to find her genuine voice while descending into madness. A journey through accusation, guilt, amnesia, and regret is constructed out of sampled audio clips from classic films about the theatre, and about the anxiety over the roles we play on stage and in life.

NCTC Presents – 2boys.tv

Fans of opera star Maria Callas – strap on your seat belts. Those who can quote Bette Davis and Anne Baxter in ALL ABOUT EVE will be lip-syncing along with the well-timed inserts. Fans of Tennesse Williams’ SUDDENLY LAST SUMMER will savor the central character’s bout with a domineering Katharine Hepburn and the guttural screaming replies of Elizabeth Taylor. Sitting somewhere between Pee Wee’s Playhouse and The Twilight Zone, ZONA is boldly complex, funny, thought provoking, and extremely clever in its use of various media. While the show’s appeal may be a bit esoteric, NCTC is at the forefront for encouraging new works and promoting resident artists with extraordinary talents and loyal followings.

FRIENDS ARE FOREVERIn the Walker Theatre
A World Premier directed by Ben Randle

FRIENDS ARE FOREVER

NCTC once again features the work of San Francisco Playwright Tom W. Kelly. This rollicking new comedy is a sexy celebration of gay couples where, sometimes, it’s only one degree of separation. FRIENDS ARE FOREVER follows three gay couples as they explore friendship, love, fidelity, and infidelity as well as the occasionally awkward repercussions. Friendships between the couples are humorously tested when indiscretions and secrets are unexpectedly exposed. But despite all obstacles, our shared humanity far outweighs our differences. Witty dialogue, likeably eccentric characters, and quick-fire pacing all merge into a provocatively fun-filled evening.
