WEEKEND SAN FRANCISCO TRANSIT AND TRAFFIC IMPACTS May 10-May 11

The San Francisco Municipal Transportation Agency (SFMTA) advises San Francisco residents and visitors of the following event-related traffic and transit impacts this weekend, Saturday, May 10—Sunday, May 11, 2008.

Event participants and fun seekers should check with sfmta.com or call 311 to find out which of the 80 Muni lines will get them where they want to go.

Girl Scout Walk and Celebration

On Saturday, May 10 from 10:00 a.m. to 3:00 p.m., the Girl Scout Golden Gate Bridging Walk and Celebration will take place in the Presidio, across the Golden Gate Bridge , and at the Historical Airfield in Crissy Field.

Mason Street between Sports Basement and Crissy Field Avenue in the Presidio will be closed from 7:00 a.m. to 5:00 p.m. to accommodate this event.

The following Muni bus routes will be affected due to heavy traffic.

28-19th Avenue

29-Presidio

KFOG KaBoom

On Saturday, May 10, the KFOG KaBoom concert at Pier 30/32 will require a street closure on The Embarcadero from King Street as far north as Howard Street . The event will be held from 4:00 p.m. to approximately 9:30 p.m.

Parking Control Officers and SFPD officers will be on hand monitoring pedestrian and vehicle traffic to determine when the closure is necessary. The street may be closed as early as 6:00 p.m.

The 12-Folsom Muni bus route will be affected.

Parking will be limited in the area. No motorcycle parking will be allowed on The Embarcadero. Motorcycles will be accommodated on Harrison Street between The Embarcadero and Main Street .

Attendees are encouraged to use public transportation. Muni’s T-Third and N-Judah Metro lines go directly to the event site. The 10-Townsend and 12-Folsom bus routes stop nearby.

Monitored bicycle parking will be offered between Piers 26 and 28.

California College of the Arts Commencement

At 2:00 p.m. on Saturday, May 10, the California College of the Arts will hold its commencement ceremony at the Masonic Auditorium, 1111 California Street . The doors will open at 12 noon.

No street closures or Muni re-routes are planned.

The California Cable Car line will be affected due to heavy vehicular and pedestrian traffic.
